About this Campaign

In October 2008 the City of Melbourne held a City Safety Summit, where people of all ages and walks of life talked about issues concerning city safety and possible solutions. Alcohol and drug associated violence, the availability of public transport (especially at night), and the need for safe spaces in the city were some of the big issues.

One of the big ideas to come out of the summit was setting up a city safety online forum for young people – a space where people under 25 could talk about the issues important to them. This is a city of young people –we don’t want to tell you what the main safety issues are and what would make your city safer.

You’re the experts. You tell us.

From 7 December, we’ll look at all your ideas, comments, votes and flicks you’ve posted on this site. We’ll pay special attention to the issues and ideas you’ve voted as the most important. Based on your ideas for solutions, we’ll prepare a report to go to the Melbourne City Council with recommendations for action to make the city a safer place for everyone.

So if you are aged between 12 to 25 years, we want to hear from you. What are your issues of safety in the city? What do you think we can do to solve these issues?

How to get involved?

1. Read the Terms of Use so you understand the forum rules.

2. You can only post or vote if you are a member. It’s easy and it costs you nothing. Just register, choose an avatar and then you can start talking.

3. Still unclear? Go to the FAQ.

4. Enter forum.
